Eco-minded Jazzpunks

Black Wesker performing live at The Duke in Neath

Black Wesker is Wales’ premier jazz-rock band, manic energy, niche vibes, they’re a party band – Rhys D on drums is an absolute railway train, his trad style inspired by Mitch Mitchell takes no prisoners and stops for no one, absolute power house Sion Bailey of psychobilly fame slaying it on the daisy base, gnarled jazz-punk chaos, churny riffs and wah-trips down rabbit hole songs of ecological theme, B-list celebrities, Welsh pride with big send-offs, crowd-sing-a-long type stuff.

Formed in 2021 in Jake’s living room, the band recorded their first single His Fault with Dave Draper in his converted stable near Evesham the following year. The band schleped back up that year to record their first EP Sun’s Hot Dad.

In January 2023 the band hit up legendary rockabilly producer and Joe Meek oracle, Alan Wilson at his studio, Western Star in Temple Cloud. This led to the release of Musty Threads the closest thing to an album to date with seven tracks.

The next release wouldn’t be until August 2024 when the band put out Lofty Promises, this double-A side the first release to feature one of the bands Welsh pride songs, Carry on (Up The Cayo)

The next release came in August 2025 with God’s Country and Kit Car. The band are next due to play in August 2026 with hopefully another double-A side release.
